Pinball Wizards is a pinball game that is actually a blend of Pinball and Breakout. It is for the Commodore PET. According to Commodoregames.net it was released in 1979 by PETSoft and was written by Nick Day. Beyond this snippet, I was not able to find out anything else about this program.

The game mixes elements of pinball and Breakout. The table features hard and destructible elements and icons that score when you roll over them (there is a key to these at the bottom left of the screen). The strangest element of the game is the control. Your bat/flipper constantly moves to the left. The only control over it that you have is to press the key that makes it move right. Let go of the key and it moves left again. This is not a bug, it is how the game is designed to work. It is not very intuitive by today's standards, that is for sure!

I found this an unusual game, that was not particularly interesting to play, but was also intriguing at the same time. A sort of curiosity from the past that did not fit the normal mould of ancient games. I can't say it is a great game because it isn't, but at the same time, I kind of liked it!

This run was made on the 13th December 2024 using the Pantheon emulator on PC. There are no adjustable skill levels. The score achieved was 99,650 points.

Time stamps:
00:30 End of previous game.
00:34 Game begins.
01:40 First ball lost.
01:55 Second ball lost.
02:14 Third ball lost. Game Over! Final score 99,650 points.
