Scramble clone Gauntlet (or The Gauntlet) released by PSS for the 16K ZX81. This run was played on the 18th March 2021 using the EightyOne emulator.
Overall, this is a cracking little copy of Scramble. The only real issue was getting used to the keys as these are set to the diagonals, not left/right/up/down. In theory this will help in the city maze section, but I never really mastered the key control despite a lot of practice. You'll notice a lot of time I just tried to keep it straight while hammering the laser and bomb buttons.
My best score was 14,010 - I just can't manage the city at all! Still, a good game and worth persevering with.
Time stamps:
00:20 Title screen and 1 player selected.
03:20 First ship lost.
03:40 Second ship lost.
03:58 Third ship lost.
04:10 Fourth ship lost (bonus ship for getting over 6000 points).
04:20 Top of the high score table with 14010 points.
