Playing the Atari 400/800 version of Galaxian using the Altirra emulator on PC. The date of this game was the 16th January 2022, the skill level was 0 (the number at top left of the screen) and the score reached was 15,250 points.
It's a fairly good port of Galaxian and was an early home micro game, released in 1982. It has a couple of interesting differences from the arcade original. The first thing you'll notice is that your ship moves left and right very quickly. This can get you in trouble - but also out of it! I've manage to slip out of some very tight showers of enemy bullets thanks to this speed. The other feature is that the aliens flight path is quite jerky and barely predictable. They will quite happily stagger through the air, change direction and even stop for significant periods. Some may feel this is annoying (it certainly can be!) and others find it adds to the challenge.
