The Jupiter Ace was a little known machine that resembled the ZX 81 (in fact it was designed by some former Sinclair engineers). It was unusual in using FORTH as it's inbuilt language instead of BASIC. It was hampered by it's very basic features and a competitive market by the time it was released. A lack of memory (only 1K RAM as standard) and colour stood out as weak points, but it was intended to be a cheap starter unit with add-on units bringing additional features - much like the ZX 81.
It's most interesting feature was that it used FORTH instead of BASIC.
Ace Invaders is a very simple game where you shoot endless streams of invaders which change design and point values over time. It's very hard to control your base when moving left or right which don't make it much fun. Still, you can't do much with 1K! It was produced by Hi Tech Microsoft and released in 1983.
This run was made using the Pantheon Emulator. The date of play was the 24th June 2023 and the score reached was 1,180 points.
