| General Rules: |
Play with default settings unless otherwise specified. If the ROM set is not mentioned, play the parent ROM. No use of trainers, cheats, saved game files, emulator save states or other emulator advantages. No use of code modifications that give the player an advantage over other players. 1 player only. No continues. In-game/internal autofire is only allowed if a game has it (enabled through hard or soft DIPs). External/MAME/cheat-based autofire is not allowed. It is discouraged and may lead to voters not accepting your score to - excessively point farm - use glitches or other game exploits You can use any emulator you want (Retropie, rain, neo geo, Coinops, Antstream, handhelds,...). If specific emulators or versions are restricted, it will be mentioned in the Specific rules. For Top 3 we encourage (but NOT mandatory) to provide: a) A full video with DIP Switches to be shown in the video (at the start or at the end of your performance). If DIP Switches are not available, Service Menu should be used instead (at the start of your performance). If no difficulty settings is available on your game, you still have to show either DIP switches or service mode showing this (if not mentioned in the specific rules). OR b) An INP file. Please state your MAME version in the comments. And add an URL where the voter can download your .inp. (We currently have no way to store those files on the server, but it is on the roadmap). For INPs: o We encourage to also show the DIPs during your video play. o Delete NVRAM before recording/viewing. Many arcade games that MAME emulates save some information (like high scores) in non-volatile ram (NVRAM), which by default MAME saves in the nvram subfolder. For some games (not all) the RNG is affected by NVRAM, so an .inp file recorded with non-empty nvram won't replay correctly on anyone else's system. o To record INP file, you require Wolfmame: You can download it here : https://github.com/mahlemiut/wolfmame/releases (or on MARP). o Record one run gameplay when using INP. |

Yeah, absolutely! The number of times I have been caught out by this is amazing.

Yeah! I was wondering if they only say it because I am in high gear and they are telling me what gear I am in. I should try being in the pits in low gear and see if they still say it.
You could always try Antstream if you have a decent internet connection and a decent server access. I was sceptical about it at first, but it works for me (you need fibre to your house ideally).

1:18 - it always bugged me when they shout High Gear Go Go Go! During the pit stop letaway. As you really want to be in low gear in that moment for fast accel out of the pits.
Just something silly I noticed while playing this on Taito Legends..
But I really enjoy this one. Will have to get Mame sometime to compete on this table.
✅️ ✅️ 👍 Cool play

Continental Circus is a 1987-dated arcade racing game from Taito. It didn't actually make it to arcades worldwide until 1988 and 1989 though. The player has to race over 8 tracks to complete the game. Not only do you have to complete the course to qualify for the next, you also have to achieve a rank as well. The ranking you need to achieve increases with each race, effectively increasing the difficulty. Failure to finish or achieve the required rank costs you your game.
Although not a direct descendant of Atari's Pole Position, this game feels very much like it should be. Graphically and in gameplay terms it feels like what the next evolution of Pole Position would have been.
As well as the eight tracks and your ability to crash into other cars or roadside objects, there are also pits for you to pull into. Here, you can have any damage to your car fixed, at the cost of a few seconds delay. This is still quicker than losing your car out on track because you did not stop to fix a damaged engine or change your tyres.
Another innovation, which I remember playing back in the past was that many version sof the arcade cabinet came with a 3D visor. The game could be played in true 3D. I didn't play this game much though at the time as I found it too difficult and games were over too quickly. I was losing money faster than I was learning the game, so I preferred other games. Playing it now though, I enjoyed it quite a lot. It just takes several goes to get the feel of the car and it's controls.
This run was made on the 9th June 2023. The game was played using the Antstream streaming service on PC. The final score reached was 1,417,650 points.
Time Stamps:
00:30 Game is loaded and awaiting coins. My Antstream avatar is at top right.
00:33 Game start.
00:39 Race 1: Brazil.
00:45 Race starts (and I'm in the wrong gear).
01:09 Bump another car. This causes my car to smoke. I now need to get to the pits to fix this. If I don't, the smoke becomes a fire, then the fire destroys the car. Luckily the pits are right here.
01:14 Pit stop!
03:00 Race finished and qualified (just! - 79th needed to be at least 80th).
03:11 Race 2: America.
03:43 Collision - car destroyed! You always get another car but you lose a lot of time.
04:54 Race finished and qualified for the next round.
05:04 Race 3: France.
06:30 Race finished, but I didn't qualify high enough. Game Over! Final score 1,417,650 points.
06:45 High Scores and initials entry.
07:19 Quitting back to Antstream and showing the Antstream leaderboard. I have achieved slightly better than this score on a non-recorded run.
