Adventures of Tron is an arcade-platform game for the Mattel Intellivision. The game, written in 1982, was never released. The author appears to have been Peter Kaminski while at APh Technology.

The game is a platformer, with four floors to negotiate. You have to collect the 'bits' that are on each level. Once you have done this, the Input/Output Tower activates (the blue column in the centre of the screen) which you have to enter to get to the next level.

Moving up the platform levels is achieved using the lifts. You can also drop down a level at any time by pressing down. On the level just below the top one, the Solar Sailer moves back and forth. You can jump onto this to be carried along the platform quickly.

The MCP sends out various enemies to stop you. Recognisers are the main opponent, which move along the platforms. There are also Warriors and on later levels, tanks appear which can also fire at you. Each new level is the same, but the pattern of enemies changes and becomes more difficult.

On my first plays, I just kept continually losing lives while making no progress. However, as I played it and began to survive longer, I found the game began to reveal itself fully. The gameplay is surprisingly complex compared to how it first appears as a simple platformer. The various mechanics of the playfield come together to keep you on your toes, moving up and down levels in order to avoid the enemies and collect all the bits to survive. After the early frustrations, I was soon enjoying the game.

This run was made on the 17th March 2024 using the Pantheon emulator on PC. There are no skill levels and the final score reached was 1,660 points.
