Croaker is a Frogger clone for the Acorn Electron. It was released by Program Power in 1984 and was written by Chris Butler. Although the title screen says 1983, this is a hangover from the original release for the BBC Micro, which was in 1983.

It is a pretty faithful version of the arcade game, though I did not see a snake on the river bank or any flies or lady frogs either. Acornsoft's Hopper is the better game of these two. It is a little fast-paced at level one creating an initial difficulty curve, but you soon get used to it. The Electron's simple sound system means the music is actually quite annoying during play as it is so monotone.

In summary, a reasonably decent version of the game that is still worth a play despite missing a few features of the original and with annoying music.

This run was made on the 20th April 2024 using the Pantheon emulator on PC. The score reached was 9,610 points.
