One of the many Breakout clones for the Commodore PET. Details on this one are a bit thin. I didn't find out who wrote it or whether it is a homebrew or commercial release. Online repositories seem to think it is from 1980, but I have found no evidence either way.
As Breakout games on the PET go, this one is well done. You get 7 balls to demolish the wall, a task made all the harder as the ball speeds up when you hit one of the bricks in the top three rows and if you breakthrough to the ceiling, your bat shrinks to half size! During a return, the ball will pass through bricks, making it hard to hit more than one brick per bounce. Arkanoid this is not. Although difficult to clear a screen (I've never done it), the presentation of the game is well laid out and the bat responsive.
This run was made on the 7th February 2026 using the Pantheon emulator on PC. There are no adjustable skill levels. The score achieved was 370 points.
