Invaders by Arcadia is a home port of the classic Taito arcade game for the Oric 16K or 48K. It was released in 1983.

This is fairly standard fare Space invaders. There is your base, bunkers to hide behind, the Invaders themselves and the occasional UFO for bonus points. It is ok for a 16K game. Scrolling isn't smooth, but there is animation on the invaders and the explosion when you die. Sound is also restricted to shots and explosions, but the classic 'heartbeat' sound is included.

This is quite a difficult version of Space Invaders. The enemy move fast and their shots are also very quick - it is not easy to dodge their fire. A game for those who find normal Space Invaders games too easy perhaps?!

The last point to make here is the similarity with the version of Invaders by Program Factory. They are very obviously almost identical games, with the only differences being in the graphics. I don't know what the story is here, or which version came first. There is a bit of a tale here, I think, so I will keep digging.

This game was played using an Oric 48K emulated in Oricutron. The date of play was the 20th July 2026. There are no selectable skill levels. The final score was 480 points.
