I am not sure about that... I was made this score use my thumbstick on my gamepad...
You just have to use the right tactic and have a lot of luck to make a great score, and lots of practice of course...
I also use this article which helps me a lot about Summer Games II joystick controls and all other infos about the game...

I think this game needs a proper stick to be played ? A gamepad won't do the job.... ?
