Casse Brique is a very simple Breakout clone for the Oric-1. It was released by Loriciels in 1983. The game is written in BASIC (press CTRL-C to break in and list it) and the author is Carlo Perconti, who went on to do much better games on the Oric, such as Stanley and Super Jeep. Carlo went on to have a successful career in the games industry, programming for the C64, Amstrad CPC, Amiga, NES, SNES, Genesis, Playstation, Dreamcast....the list goes on!

This is a very early and simple Breakout clone for the Oric. Smash the wall if you can (I never did). Maybe you get another level after that I don't know. Unfortunately, the ball path is tied to character spaces and that means that each ball will either be on odd or even squares only, making it impossible to clear a level with one ball alone. This is a common flaw in Breakout games written in BASIC due to a very simple bounce formula commonly used. Definitely not the best Breakout clone on the Oric.

This run was made on the 12th April 2026. The game was played on an Oric Atmos 48K using the Oricutron emulator. The highest skill level was selected using the Niveau bar. The final score was 1,270 points.
